I've read countless books on finances over the past 30 years. Some have been life-changing, others not so much. Today I'd like to share my top five picks with you. I list them in no particular order. I like them all equally well and highly recommend each one.

Pick #1:
Love Your Life, Not Theirs
by: Rachel Cruze
Rachel is the daughter of legendary financial guru, Dave Ramsey. I was a member of the pre-publication reader team for this book. I give you my honest opinion of the book in this review. In short, I loved this book. I have two sons in their 20's and this book speaks directly to that generation with wisdom and common sense. She writes with heart and a lot of humor. It's a must read!
Pick #2:
America's Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money: Your Guide to Living Better, Spending Less, and Cashing in on Your Dreams
By: Steve and Annette Economides
When I first read this book I thought, "I can't believe how much these people live like Larry and I do!" I was so impressed with their down-to-earth advice and homespun advice. They offer easy-to-follow tips and ideas and good common sense!
Pick #3:
Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half with America's Cheapest Family
By: Steve and Annette Economides
I was so excited when the Economides released their second book! They succeeded in writing a second volume full of new, unique tips and advice. This book is centered on reducing your grocery budget without clipping a lot of coupons. Once again, I give it a hearty "two thumbs up".
Pick #4:
The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness
By: Dave Ramsey
This was the book that got me excited and ready to go after our dream of paying cash for our second home. It's written in Dave Ramsey's typical "tell it like it is" style. His 7 Baby Steps are well-known and well-quoted by Ramsey fans (and critics) alike. This is a "must read" for everyone, regardless of where they are in the process of budgeting.
Pick #5:
The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy
By: Thomas J. Stanley
This book is written from the perspective of a statistician and researcher. Stanley analyzes information compiled from extensively interviewing hundreds of millionaires. He found some surprising facts about America's millionaires. For instance most have not inherited their wealth. They work middle-class jobs, live in average homes, drive older cars, and clip coupons! It is a fascinating and encouraging read! This classic was updated in 2010.
It was most recently, rewritten in 2018 and updated by Thomas J. Stanley's daughter. I have the new version checked out from the library right now.
Here's a photo and a link to the new book.
The Next Millionaire Next Door.
I've read so many more books on budgeting and finances. There are just too many to list in this post. But, these five have definitely been my favorites.
