I have a confession to make. We don't watch the Super Bowl. It's just not our thing. Instead, we plan something else special. Tonight we will be watching the Marvel movie, Black Panther, as a family. However, like the rest of America, I do serve fun "snacky" foods on Game Day. As pondered our Sunday snack spread, I looked at the sales flyers. In the end, I planned my menu by combining the power of price matching and items which were already on sale.
What did I spend? Just $13.38 for all of this!
HyVee Sale Items:
Roma Tomatoes - 59¢ a pound. I bought 2 pounds.
Small Avocados - 38¢ each. I bought 4 of them.
This was a hard call to make. The large size avocados were on sale for 49¢ each. That is a great price for the larger size. I made my decision based on the fact that the smaller ones were slightly riper and we wanted to use them for guacamole today. So, being a "middle of the road" girl, I bought four of the smaller avocados AND 4 of the larger avocados to use later in the week.
Coffee Gouda - 99¢ each!
These were in the marked down cheese bin. I seriously have no idea how they will taste. But, I love coffee and I like gouda. So, this seemed like an okay combination. I took a gamble and bought two of them. We are having cauliflower tacos tonight. But, I'm not sure this cheese seems like a taco topping. So, I might wind up serving them on a platter with crackers.
Aldi Price Matched Items:
Fresh pineapple - $1.29 each. My savings on 2 of them: $2.42
Large avocados - 49¢ each. These were price matched from Aldi. I know I bought some of the small ones too. But, these were not as ripe. So, I bought 4 of these to use later in the week. I don't know if buying more of the small ones would have been a smarter move. But, it was late, we were hungry, and I made the decision.
