Best Buys: The Aldi Grand Re-opening Rocked!

Yes!!!!  Aldi did it again!  They remodeled the second store in my town!  I got some great deals and lots of photos of the new interior.  Let's see how I did!

The ribbon cutting ceremony was short and sweet.  The line of customers wound all the way across the front of the store to the far corner of the parking lot.  Only the first 100 customers in line got gift cards.  Check out my number!  If I had been even 2 minutes later, I would not have gotten a card!
My husband, off of work this week recovering from foot surgery, was #95.

As we entered the store, employees gave us a shopping cart, a free reusable Aldi shopping bag, and a gift card.  These were cleverly packaged, in a generic envelope, adding to the excitement and suspense of waiting to open the envelope to see how much money was on your gift card.

Both my husband and I won the same amount on our gift cards:  $10.00!  But, that amount at Aldi goes a long, long way!

Greatly Improved Interior!

When you enter, the first thing you notice is that the aisles are much wider, allowing you to see more of the store at a glance.  There is dramatic new lighted signage in every department.  It is lovely!

Samples!

The store will have free samples throughout the grand re-opening weekend.  They had 3 sample stations set up throughout the store.  Each station had at least 3 featured products.  We were able to try Aldi's house brand of chocolate, cheese, crackers, and gluten-free products. If you haven't tried Aldi products in a while, DO give them a go!  They've come a long way in terms of great flavor and quality at a fantastic price point!  They certainly got our two-thumbs-up vote!

Win Free Produce For A Year!

Through the end of the weekend, you'll find a table right up front with entry forms to win free produce for a year!  There is a line at the bottom to check to have Aldi send you information on weekly sales and special promotions.  I would suggest you do this!  I have gotten weekly Aldi e-mails for years!  This is also how the probably had my address to send me a special $5/$30 coupon to use at the grand opening!  My readers tell me that this coupon was also on their weekly sales flyer that they got in the newspaper insert.  But, it must have been a little sporadic, because my sales flyer did not have the coupon on the front of it.

What I Got!

My goal with any $5/$30 coupon is to get as close to $30 as I can without going over.  Generally with these coupons the amount is calculated before taxes.  So, you must have $30 or more before taxes.  My total was just about $32.00 before taxes.  Not bad! My downfall was the last minute cream cheese and the yogurt that #4 son asked for at the end of the shopping trip.  Otherwise, I would have been nearly spot-on the $30.00 mark.  But, that's close enough!

After the deducted my $5 coupon and the $10 gift card that I won, my total was:  $18.14!

Here's two photos of "the haul" at home on my kitchen table.  I stocked up on some baking essentials for the holiday season as well as some staples like oats, jelly, cereal, and bottled water.  The mangos and pineapple were both half price since they were the produce picks of the week.  The mango came in at $.89 each and the pineapple at $1.29.

 More Coupons!

They also are giving out this strip of $5/$30 coupons when you shop during the grand re-opening.  I don't know if this is just for today or for the entire weekend.  I would assume that they will give them out until they run out of them.  These cards allow you to shop and save $5 each week for the next 3 weeks when you spend at least $30.  In other words, they are three $5/$30 coupons!  What a great deal and what a great day!

Here's a link from the Aldi website.  It tells you all the details of the grand re-opening weekend, store hours, and location.  https://www.aldi.us/en/about-aldi/grand-openings/peoria-il/
